Visit to Pagosa

Aaron finished Winter Semester last week and started Spring Semester this week which meant a weekend trip to see his family!

I don't know if you remember last year how there was some sort of old car show in Moab... well what are the odds that we ran into it again!?

Saturday we went to his brother's track meet.

Besides cheering him on, I spent a bit of time testing out our new camera (our tax refund splurge!). I thought this pic turned out pretty sweet!

And this is Willy the cat.

And this is Aaron making twice-baked potatoes. (Had to try out the food setting!)

After church on Sunday we drove to Pagosa Junction, the old train station. It was a bit of a drive but I thought it was awesome. I've always had a like for ghost town stuff, but have never been to one.

Here is Mama Penne and the outhouse out back! It was a two-holer... we didn't dare look down the holes!

This was in the pump room. I thought it was cool.

And a fabulous old Catholic church nearby...

Other than that, we just spent a lot of time talking, eating, and playing games. It was great to see them since it has been quite a few months. And they were happy to see my growing belly!
As we drove back on Monday, we saw this sign in Monticello. I found it quite random and funny.

And Price Canyon trains... love them.

It was a fab weekend and of course went by SO quickly.

Project #2

I mentioned forever ago that I had "projects" I was working on. One of them is sewing. At my work, we sell fabrics and occasionally when they get discontinued I'll take the memo samples because I think they are a cool pattern. I've been collecting them for a few years and last fall decided it was time to get them all out and see what I could come up with. I made schemes for both boys and girls but worked on the boy ones first because I thought we would have a boy. After we found out we're having a girl, I quickly put those away and started the girl ones.

I thought it would be cool to make "floor quilts"... you know, quilts for the floor at church, home, or wherever. These aren't really blankets to snuggle to sleep with (in my opinion) but hopefully they'll be useful somehow!
Anywhere, here they are. I had four schemes pulled and had different layouts on each one. I thought it would be fun to try different ways of sewing with each one.

Here's a fuzzy one:

And here is a stripe-y one.

(Here's the back; I decided to try machine quilting and just did it along the lines from the front. I thought it turned out kinda cool.)

When I finish making the boy ones, I'll post them. But they're not on the list any time soon. :)

Also, our Relief Society cleaned out the closet and found some fabric to toss. I took it because I'm all about free fabric. (Obviously.) :) I made these burp cloths and did various stitching around the edges. Aaron did make a comment that he hopes we get some that are a bit more manly. :)

I am also making her a blanket that I hope she'll love and a doll. Hopefully they'll turn out and I'll post them.

Belly 2

Well hi!

Sorry for the lack of posts but things have been pretty routine for the past couple months. Me working and growing and Aaron schooling. I have been spending a lot of time sewing and working on finishing our wedding scrapbook and planning and executing Relief Society Activities. I have been feeling really good since week 21 which has been wonderful. Our baby seems to be getting more and more active which is so fun! There is this funny 'pitter patter' thing she does where I wonder if she just alternates pushing her feet back and forth quickly on the side of my belly. It's so fun (and funny) to feel. We have a follow-up ultrasound next week and I'm really excited to see her again. Hopefully she'll be a little less shy this time and we can see her profile! I think I am entering a nesting stage but am not sure how much I'll let myself react to it. I do plan on completely cleaning our apartment in the next monthish. And of course I'm getting nervous about not having anything for our baby but I'm hoping random items will show up on our doorstep somehow?! The only thing I want to purchase new is a car seat and other than that, I've been browsing the ksl classifieds for cribs and stuff. I'm still nervous to buy though; it's weird! Other than that, school ends for Aaron in a couple weeks and then he'll start the next semester the next week! We also have a couple quick trips to see family planned soon. We're hoping for the best with the driving... we haven't gone anywhere since Thanksgiving because I got SO sick and the drives were miserable for both of us. We're hoping the insane car sickness left with those first 20 weeks of sickness. We'll see!

Anyway, here we are at 27 weeks! Our power was out last night so I think they turned out pretty decent for taking them in the dark!

And I thought I'd compare myself to a soccer ball...

And I know it's April and therefore snow pictures aren't that exciting, but it is pretty and no amount of complaining will change it so therefore I decided to just focus on the beauty as I walked to work. And hopefully this is the last storm. :)

So life is good. And I hope it is for you too.
