Off We Go...

So.  Big News.  We’re moving.  To Albuquerque.

Aaron has accepted an offer with a public accounting firm there and we plan on moving down next spring after he graduates.

Crazy.

Am I excited?  Excited to choose an apartment I’ll never see before living in it?  Excited to leave my family and friends?  Excited to be pretty much alone in a city I don’t know?  No, I wouldn’t say excited is the word.  I would say accepting is a better word.  But I am THRILLED that Aaron has a job and am hoping that it will turn out to be a wonderful adventure for our family.

Yay Becky! I'm so excited for you! New job, new start, new place... it's really a lot of fun, I promise. And, because you're you, I know you'll do great. My advice is just to keep an open mind. Don't expect it to be like "home," and it will probably surprise you just how much it actually is. What's important is being with the ones you love, and sticking together as a family. You'll love it. I'm so excited to read about your adventures!

That is definitely an adventure! My SIL lives in Farmington, so if you feel the need to drive a few hours, you can be her friend. :)

Congrats! I have a really good friend who grew up in Albuquerque and lives outside it now, if you want her contact info I'd be happy to pass it on.

I lived in ABQ for 5 years. Went to all of high school there (miraculously since my Dad was military!) When you are choosing a place to live, just make sure it is on the North East or North West side of town. The North East is more expensive, but MUCH SAFER. You DO NOT want to live anywhere in the south parts of town. The North West side also has some bad parts but I'm not sure what they are?

There is still lots of great hiking in the area and some cool things to see in the surrounding area! I hope you LOVE it. My best friend still lives there (grew up there, went to BYU, came back a couple years ago), and know she'd love to talk with you about the area. Actually, you would get along great and your kids are about the same age! Good luck with everything!

That's CRAZY news!!! I hope it all goes well. I'm sure it will, but it is hard leaving your comfort zone. We are only in Idaho and I still miss Logan FIERCELY.

And by the way - you asked why I moved in with my dad. I didn't blow that question off, but it's something I prefer not to talk about on my blog (since the people involved in my choice read the blog).

I moved in with my dad because I had a VERY terrible relationship with my mother at the time. She was a "yeller screamer" and I couldn't take it anymore. Plus, I was really close to LoRene and I wanted to spend more time with her.

Since that time I have repaired my relationship with my mother and things are MUCH better. She is a great grandma to my children and she always calls me and tells me how proud she is of me. But, when I was 15, it was time for a change.

And ironically enough, I had originally decided to attend Kearns High with all my Junior High friends. But after a summer in WJ, I changed my mind and decided to go to WJHS - I'm SO glad I did. It was rough at first, because I only knew about 4 people at the beginning of the school year, but I managed to fit in pretty well. :)

FUN! Jeff is applying to UNM so there is a possibility we will end up there too. I think the best part about living there might be the hot air balloons! I want to go to that!

Becky! I am so excited for you! Sabrina sings a great song about Albuquerque and thanksgiving. We sang it the entire time we drove through the town on the way home to Utah once. :) It is hard to move somewhere and be alone...but something always works and the church is wonderful! Finding a house is always an adventure. Call the relief society president in a ward there are see if anyone in the ward rents...sometimes you find someone willing to help.

You never know what awaits you... I'm sure it'll be so great for you guys! Being away from family has really brought a different strength to us and yes it can be hard to be away from it all sometimes, but at other times, it's kinda nice :). You'll have an awesome ward with great people and be so busy you won't believe how fast the time goes!

hopefully you adjust quickly and grow to not hate the native american decor that is everywhere. I wouldn't be excited either but adventures are always fun somewhere along the way!

So clearly I haven't read your blog in awhile...I'm excited for you! Having just done a huge move myself, I know how daunting it can be. I thought of it as a wonderful adventure -- and that's what it's turning out to be. :) Good luck!
